Welcome to January and 2021, Taurus. You're known for your determination, and you put it to good use at the end of December, when, despite the weight of the world, you kept on fighting for what you deserve. You get a boost of support in this effort on Wednesday, January 6 when fighter planet Mars enters your sign, helping you to find your voice and speak up for yourself. During a pandemic, creating healthy boundaries has perhaps been more important than ever, and if anyone has disrespected yours, you may now have the courage to politely tell them where to shove it.

The stars are busy on Friday, January 8, when your ruling planet, romantic Venus, enters disciplined Capricorn, lighting up your 9th House of Philosophy. Around this time, you may experience realizations about what kind of partner or relationship you want. And the best news is that with the help of hardworking Capricorn, and warrior Mars in your sign, you can get it. This is an ideal time to ask a crush out or stand firm in your boundaries (get ready to see that word a lot, dear Taurus, because it's pretty much your theme for the month). Is a former crush or lover pushing you to meet up in a manner that makes you feel unsafe? This may be the sign you've been looking for that they're not the right person for you, and it's time to move on.

Becoming involved in activism can be good for your mental health, as long as you occasionally step back to take care of yourself.

Also on Friday, January 8 communication planet Mercury enters independent Aquarius, and your 10th House of Career. This month asks you to stand up for yourself, Taurus, and the first Mercury retrograde of the year begins at the end of the month. Go ahead and take this time to ask for a raise, adjusted work hours, or speak up about a project you're passionate about before the communication delays and technological mishaps begin.

Then, revolutionary planet Uranus ends its retrograde, which began in August of 2019, on Thursday, January 14. This retrograde was actually good for many of us, and you may have been inspired to take action against systemic racism, unsafe working conditions during the pandemic, and other important causes. When it finally goes direct, you may feel more relaxed, but that doesn't mean these things don't still matter to you. Enjoy this new time period, but don't lose sight of what's important, Taurus. There is still work to be done and becoming involved in activism can be good for your mental health, as long as you occasionally step back to take care of yourself.

The energy is detached and logical, helping you not to totally freak out if you mistakenly send your parents a nude.

Aquarius season begins on Tuesday, January 19, and this new energy can make you feel a little bit detached from others — which might be a welcome change from the past few months. You've spent so much time taking care of everyone, and it might be good for you to spend a bit of time not worrying so much about others. When messenger Mercury goes backward in the sign on Saturday, January 30, this influence is amped up a bit, and while it may cause you to accidentally leave friends on read, Mercury is actually happy in this sign, even in a retrograde. As long as when you do get back to them, you're being thoughtful and present, taking some time to focus solely on yourself may be just what you need after the year you've just had. Stay safe, Taurus, and see you in February.

We know many of you may be feeling worried, frightened, or isolated right now. Although the stars don't have answers to the multitude of questions running through all of our minds, astrology may at least provide some comfort during times of uncertainty. We urge you to donate to one or all of these organizations if you're able to. If you can't, we created a guide to ways you can support the BLM movement other than financially.
