Researchers from the Department of Public Health in France identified a positive correlation between men displaying male pattern baldness and high blood pressure. Their study looked at 250 men from the ages of 35 to 65.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) call high blood pressure “hypertension”. It means the heart has to work extra hard to pump blood around the body.
Although unlikely, it’s important to be aware of other symptoms of high blood pressure – should they occur.
The charity lists symptoms of high blood pressure as the following:
- Blurred vision
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
It adds: “Many people with high blood pressure feel fine.
“But even if you feel fine, you should still have your blood pressure checked regularly.”

Blood pressure readings reveal if you are suffering from hypertension.
These can be conducted at GP surgeries and some pharmacies.
High blood pressure is considered to be 140/90mmHg or higher. The first number is called the systolic measurement and the second number is the diastolic measurement.
Risk factors for developing the condition include being overweight, smoking and long-term sleep deprivation.

To help minimise your risk of developing high blood pressure, certain lifestyle factors are encouraged.
The NHS suggest to limit the amount of salt in your food. You can do this by not seasoning your food with salt.
Make no mistake, the NHS confirms: “Salt raises your blood pressure.” The health service also encourages you to eat lots of fruits and vegetables everyday.
Furthermore, the NHS states: “Drinking too much alcohol can raise your blood pressure over time.”
It’s recommended that people should have some drink-free days every week.
Additionally, taking regular exercise lowers blood pressure by keeping your heart and blood vessels in good condition.
Physical activity can include anything from sports to gardening.
