I am ALL about green smoothies lately. Usually I am more of a juice girl but lately green smoothies have been so much better to me. I would change out the mango juice for whole mango but yum! Plus, I LOVEEEE Oh She Glows!
Today I want to share a recipe I posted on Instagram. It looked so good that I thought I’d share it over here with exact amounts and benefits:). Without further ado here it is…
Easy Raw Smoothie Bowl:
Today I am going to share an awesome recipe for people with troubled skin. It features probiotics, fiber, greens, protein and minerals. Enjoy! <3
Skin Healing Tofu Scramble:
~1/3 Block Tofu (or Tempeh if you are sensitive to soy)
~ 4c Spinach
~ 1/4-1/2c Raw Sauerkraut
~ Black Pepper
~ (OPT) Real Salt, Avocado, Cold Pressed Oil
Stir fry in pan with a little bit of water or vegetable broth. Enjoy! It’s SO good!
Tofu/Tempeh: These foods are excellent sources of vegan protein. Not to mention in some studies natural forms of soy have been shown to help prevent certain cancers. Tempeh is also full of probiotics and fiber!
Spinach: Full of skin supporting vitamins and minerals. Including vitamin E, C, B, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and omega 3 fatty acids!
Turmeric: I have talked a lot about spinach but it’s SO amazing for you. Extremely anti-inflammatory. HERE is a link to the PubMed studies on turmeric if that interests you!:)
Black Pepper: Helps with the absorption of turmeric. Also helps improve digestive health.
Raw Sauerkraut: See THIS post. Raw sauerkraut is AMAZING for acne prone skin!
Have a great day!!!
Do you like any of the foods in this recipe? What will you add? 🙂
Today I wanted to talk about my new favorite drinks! I LOVE kevita drinks they are a new fermented coconut water drink. It is awesome because they are all completely sugar free (unlike kombucha) and full of probiotics. They recently came out with a new “tonics” line and I am so excited about them. They are about $3.29 each and are two servings so the price isn’t even that bad. I can’t wait to talk about the benefits of all the new ones!:)
Chili Ginger Lime: This one contains the benefits of chili, ginger, lime and apple cider vinegar. Chili has tons of vitamin C, helps with sinus congestion and digestion. Ginger is FANTASTIC for digestion and settling an upset stomach. Apple cider vinegar has so many benefits! It is great for digestion, cravings and overall health. The taste is not super spicy and is carbonated. All the drinks are sweetened with stevia and some have a tad of apple juice concentrate.
Meyer Lemon: Contains lemon, lemongrass, lavender, apple cider vinegar and aloe. Lemon is great for digestion, vitamin C and alkalinity. Aloe is an AMAZING whole body healer especially for digestion. Lavender is great for stress and calming. I’m yet to see how this one tastes!
Turmeric Ginger: This is by far my favorite of all the tonics! It has 1000mg of turmeric, ginger, cardamom, apple cider vinegar and lime. Turmeric is probably one of the healthiest foods in the world and AMAZING for inflammation. Cardamom is another amazing herb for digestion! The taste is so good if you like turmeric. It is not sweet is is carbonated and savory.
Kale Lemon: I feel like this drink is the epitome of a healthy person stereotype, haha! Kale, lemon and probiotics all AMAZING for you! It all includes spirulina and chlorella which are amazing for your skin, detox and alkalinity. This one tastes really good. It tastes like a carbonated lemonade.
Red Beet: This includes beet concentrate and whole orange concentrate. Beets are an amazing food. They give you a natural glow, are so great for endurance and help constipation. I haven’t tried this one yet but I really want to!
I hope you this gave you some probiotic and drink ideas. Anyway, this post isn’t sponsored or anything but I love sharing healthy living brands that are awesome so you don’t waste money on the bad ones;).
Have a great weekend!
I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s workout:). I think I am going to the gym in a little bit to repeat it! Anyway, today I want to share the number one food I include in my diet to fight acne, where to buy it, what brands and what to look for and meal ideas. I think that should cover it;).
The food is….Sauerkraut. So I know this sounds SOOO gross, but its helped my skin so much. We all know sauerkraut is rich in probiotics but I honestly don’t know why it works so much better than other probiotics but it does. I am definitely not the only one to notice this. Check out Kimberly Snyder or Edible Goddess (Bethanne Wannamaker).
I highly recommend looking for a brand that is RAW. It is super important the enzymes are live and there aren’t other nasty ingredients in it. Some brands I like are Bubbies, Sonoma Brinery, Raw Rejuvenation and Farmhouse Cultures. You can purchase these at health foods stores like Whole Foods and Sprouts.
I promise the taste grows on you. I HATED it when I first started eating and now I honestly totally crave it. I know people say that a lot but it’s true, haha. Some ways to use that cover the taste are listed below:
Today’s recipe is sooo fun! It is everyone’s favorite acai bowl with extra protein for satiety, health, skin and more. Enjoy!
~1c Frozen zucchini
~1/4c Pomegranate seeds (or 1/2c berries)
~2-4 TBS. Acai Powder of a pack Sambazon frozen acai
~1-2 scoops Sproutein raw protein (or protein of choice)
~1 scoop Amazing Grass alkalize and detox
Blend all ingredients and then add toppings! Eat with a spoon and enjoy!
*Can always leave out products I use them for health or texture:)
Berries: Berries are full of antioxidants which can help fight oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Not to mention it is full of vitamins and minerals.
Acai: Full of antioxidants, fiber and heart healthy fats. Plus, it contains a lot more of these nutrients than other berries. Also, it is a low sugar fruit!
Sprotein Protein: If you want to know the benefits of protein or are scared of it see THIS post, but today I am going to talk about Sproutein. Sproutein is a raw, vegan, paleo protein powder. It is non-gmo, gluten free, nut free, organic and kosher. I really don’t know how you can beat that! The ingredients yellow pea, millet, kale, quinoa, and amaranth sprouts. Plus it comes in unique flavors like chocolate maca and vanilla lucuma.
Spinach: Spinach is leafy green is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, magnesium, folate, manganese, iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B2, potassium, and vitamin B6. It’s a very good source of protein, phosphorus, vitamin E, zinc, dietary fiber, and copper. Plus, it’s a good source of selenium, niacin, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Amazing Grass Alkalize and Detox: This is a great greens powder obviously focusing on alkalizing and detoxing your body by adding ingredients like garlic, turmeric and coconut water.
GOL enzymes: This is a powdered form of enzymes making it easier to digest, which is ironic because enzymes are great for digestion! If you have any form of digestive issues I HIGHLY recommend!
Seeds: An excellent source of vitamin E, manganese, copper, vitamin B1 and selenium. Plus, if you get Living Intentions brand it includes cold pressed olive oil, it’s sprouted, chlorella and blue green algae. The chia seeds are full of fiber and omega 3’s making it great for inflammation and constipation (hey, it rhymes!:).
Lily’s Chocolate Chips: These are SO FUN, which is so important. Who doesn’t want to enjoy their food. Also it is sugar free (with stevia!), paleo, low carb and vegan:)~
Do you guys have any Valentine’s plans?
Today’s recipe is super fun! Growing up slushy’s were my favorite food. I used to go to 7-eleven all the time to get a large slushy, it was my favorite thing!:) Growing up though you realize the consequences of some of these nutrient lacking foods. So today I wanted to share a healthified slushy that tastes SO similar (let’s be real you can get close but never the exact same;)).
Lemon Acai Slushy:
~2 Juiced Lemons (or To Taste)
~Pinch Sea Salt
~Stevia to Taste
Blend in High Powered Blender. Enjoy!!!:)
-Acai: Is a type of berry that is full of antioxidants, fiber and heart healthy fats (omega 3’s). They have more antioxidants that most commonly eaten berries.
-Lemon: Lemon has SO many benefits. I think this is a big reason why the lemon water trend has really caught on in the past few years. Lemon is full of vitamin C, prevents a multitude of sicknesses, improves complexion and much more. Here is a link with more information on lemons if you are curious: HERE:).
I hope you enjoy this recipe and if you try it tag me on Instagram!:)
2. Regenerating Serum by Dr. Hauschka: Dr. Hauschka is one of those brands that is very expensive but SUCH high quality. I don’t get to buy stuff like this often so a quick tip is to buy a small size and just use half the regular amount. This stuff is so worth it.
Today is another DIY posts which I think are always fun, but trust me this is an easy one like usual. MSM lotion is cream for acne prone or inflamed skin. I first heard about MSM as a supplement then discovered a brand that used it in the face cream and loved it! I didn’t want to pay that much however so I made my own.
Before we get into the recipe let’s get into what MSM is to start. MSM stands for methylsuflonylmethane and is a sulfur compound which is great for the skin. It also helps with the detoxification processes. Like I mentioned there is a lot of supplement versions of it sold which also work for the lotion such as: here, here, here (Coupon code: RQANXY for any link on page).
DIY MSM Lotion (OPT #1 Acne Prone/Inflammed Skin):
-Few TBS. Aloe Gel
-1/2 tsp. MSM Powder (Above Links)
-A touch of Tea Tree Oil
Mix in palm and massage on face or body part needed.
DIY MSM Lotion (OPT #2 Healing Other Skin Issues with No Inflammation):
-Few TBS. Coconut Oil
-1/2 tsp. MSM Powder (Above Links)
-Touch Rose Hip Oil
I provided two options because everyone has different skin issues and I wanted to have it work for everyone!:)
Have you guys ever used MSM?
