Today I am going to review some supplements I just bought in case you guys wanted to try them (obviously this is not a paid post or anything I just bought them:). So they are from Edible Goddess (who I love!). She is a super food, natural beauty loving blogger who I have followed for years. I have always been interested in the link between how you look and food. It’s so interesting. She is always about using tonic herbs and other cultural secrets to achieving your best health, and this is an area I haven’t really explored yet. The three I will review today are Goji Joy, Pearl Powder, and Everlasting Youth and Vitality. I bought 6 but I will review the other three next time.
Goji Joy: Goji Joy is the powdered extract of goji berries. It has 2000mg in 1 tsp!!! That is crazy. Let me put it in perspective for you. That is equivalent to 24oz of whole goji berries without the fructose and a lot more than most brands I know of. Goji berries are used extensively in Chinese Medicine. It was one of the top foods/herbs for longevity there. It is full of antioxidants, vitamins, trace minerals and is immune boosting. Now onto the taste. It honestly is delicious I was so surprised. Most of the time super foods taste…healthy;). This one tastes literally like pixie sticks, haha! Here is the recipe I used:
-24oz water of choice (I used spring water)
-1 Juiced Lemon
-1/2-1 TBS. Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
-Tsp. Goji Joy
Blend or Shake Up. There you have it an immune boosting, metabolism supporting tonic. <3 *Links are for the benefits of the ingredient or further information*
Pearl Powder: This is 100% powdered extract of pearls, which I thought was really interesting at first. I had never even heard of it. After looking into it further I discovered it is a top Taoist beauty secret, man learning about other cultures has been interesting. Anyway, it has 1500mg in one teaspoon and is in a ratio of 10:1 extract. The full size bottle is equivalent to one pound of pearls, wow! You can use this product internally or externally, although I have yet to use it externally. This extract is very, very high in trace minerals and is known for preventing wrinkling. It looks just like a plain beautiful white powder and is tasteless. Here is I used it:
Pearl Powder Smoothie:
-Tsp. Pearl Powder
-(Opt) Spirulina or Protein Powder
This is can meal sized smoothie or large snack and very delicious. It is high in minerals, enzymes, omega 3’s and fiber. Enjoy!
Everlasting Youth and Vitality: This one is a little different from the rest in the sense that it is a blend verses just one ingredient. This is specifically made for women. There are SO many herbs in this. Just look at the label and milligrams (amount in it!):
Most products that are a blend of different herbs look like it’s so great but when you look at the milligrams your realize there’s hardly any of each ingredient in there. Definitely not this one! For YEARS my favorite brand by far has been Healthforce due to it’s high standards and potency but this company really compares. The taste isn’t amazing but it’s not bitter which is great because that means it’s easy to put in things. Here is how I used it:
-24oz Green Juice of Choice (I used celery, lemon, apple, cucumber, wheatgrass)
-1.5 Tsp. Everlasting Youth and Vitality
-(Opt) Extra Lemon and/or Chlorella
Mix and Enjoy!
I will say this. These are definitely not cheap but it is because of the potency. To purchase the amounts that you get in these would cost you A LOT more. They do have package deals are there site HERE. For someone who was very hesitant to try something this expensive I was VERY impressed and would still highly recommend. It’s about budgeting with stuff like this for college students. I don’t drink or buy fancy clothes. Also you could try the small bottles and take 1/2 doses since the potency is so high you still get so much nutrition. The small bottles are cheap!
I hope you enjoy and this helps you,
What do you think of tonic herbs and Chinese Medicine?
