Today I wanted to talk about warming foods and staying warm in winter. I am literally the coldest person in the world, it could be so hot to everyone else and I’ll still be cold. If you are always cold or live in an area that is freezing here are some tips that could help! :-D.
The biggest thing I would focus on is warming foods. This is based in Chinese medicine. In Chinese Medicine there is warming (yang) and cooling (yin) foods. Learning about this has helped me so much. I think a lot of people to put a lot of pressure on themselves to eat mostly salads, smoothies, raw foods, etc. but after a while of eating mostly these foods you can start to get colder so including some foods such as herbs, spices-ginger, cayenne, tea, sweet potatoes, squash you can really warm yourself up. You can see a full list: here. If this is hard for you try starting with adding ginger to your juices, including herbal teas, and putting cayenne in your lemon water. From there you can move onto including sweet potatoes and such:).
Another helpful tool is hot baths. I mean seriously there is nothing like after a long workday coming home to a bath. Some tools to make your bath time super special is to add essential oils, bath salts, herbs, or drinking a green smoothie in the bath (sounds weird but so fun!). I also use my parents fireplace (haha), I make Edible Goddess tea (recipe here), and workout! I know working out when you’re freezing is so hard but maybe try hot yoga, drive to the gym for the sauna and walk for 30 minutes first, or just stay home and do a quick HIIT workout, like this one.
I really hope these keep you warm and tell me…
Are you cold all the time? What keeps you warm?
