Today I wanted to deal with a post far to many people can relate to. Anxiety is something that can really hold you back from dreams, goals and just being social. On top of that for a lot of people anxiety just gets worse if they don’t find a way to deal with it. I deal with anxiety all the time and have found a lot of tips that really help me. Not all of this tips will fit everyone but I hope you find this post helpful!
Without further ado here we go:)……
*Eat enough carbs. Carbs really help with energy which can motivate you. Being carb depleted on top of being sad and depressed is really the most awful combination. Carbs are your brains preferred source of fuel and I promise they will not make you fat.
*Try drinking Lavender or Chamomile Tea when feeling particularly anxious. If you don’t like the taste of tea add almond milk, tsp. manuka honey or blackstrap molasses and ice. I promise that will help.
*Try focusing on complex carbs (yams, quinoa, rice, etc.) or balance your simple sugars with a protein or fat. Having balanced blood sugar is a big deal when it comes to dealing with anxiety. The last thing most people would want here is feeling energetic then crash over and over again on top of being anxious.
*Eat enough to deal with the extra emotional stress and to avoid emotional eating .
*Try meditation. I know how hard meditation is for most people. I am like the worst at mediation ever. My mind is always going. However, it can be as easy as going outside for three deep breaths first thing in the morning and/or YouTube a five minute mediation before bed.
*Try to mix up your high intensity workouts with more mindful exercises like yoga, tai chi or Pilates.
*If you struggle with being motivated to wake up have a favorite breakfast waiting for you in the fridge. If you struggle with getting to sleep do some mediation and gentle yoga twists.
*Talk with someone. There is huge power in getting things out. A lot of the times anxiety is bottled up fear that can be lessened or alleviated by speaking with others.
*Write. I love songwriting but you can do whatever like. Some examples are poems, journals, songwriting, or keeping a diary. I LOVE to write because its the one place you can release everything without worrying once that the page will judge you.
*Try taking baths. However, not just any baths. Put on some great music, light candles, make a slushy with blended fruit and ice to eat and add rosewater/lavender essential oil to the water. Now that my friends is relaxing!:)
I really hope this helps you out! Since I talk a lot about digestive disorders I want to add using these tips can really help with the mind/gut connection to deal with digestive distress.
Let me know, what helps you deal with anxiety? Which of these will you try?
