So winter is definitely one of my favorite times of year when it comes to the food choices although I HATE the cold, haha. Here are some great in season foods and ways to use them:):
1. Cranberries: Low sugar, low calories fruit with great benefits to the urinary tract. A great way to use them is to buy the bag fresh for less than $2 then freeze it. Then here is a great recipe for you!:
~1 Small Avocado or a Frozen Banana
~1c Raw Butternut Squash
~Cinnamon and Stevia.
3.Sweet Potato’s: Although you can get sweet potato’s all year this time of year they have purple and white ones. The ones have a creamier texture and the purple ones are literally like care and full of antioxidants. YOU MUST find and try these!
4. Grapefruits: Grapefruits are usually associated with a “diet food” and yes they have fat burning properties which is great! However, I don’t view them that way! They are delicious cut up in small pieces with vanilla stevia. Just this change makes it delicious, but you know I have a recipe for you:):
Grapefruit Salad: Chopped Grapefruit, Chopped Orange, Cinnamon, Diced Avocado… BAM! Great work lunch!
